    Is it worth starting now?

I think I've already mentioned that I am going to start a whole new site using v8 as i'm not competent enough to iron out any bugs I get from upgrading and I fear I will end up in a mess.

Is it worth starting on it now (obvioulsy keeping the old site live using v7 on the main PC)? I had so much that I wanted to do on v7 over the next few months and it looks like v8 does it all for me. Am I likely to waste my time or could I theoretically import the beta site into the full version when lauched.

I guess this is an impossible question to answer. Maybe I'll leave the site as is until the full version is out and concentrate on other development areas.

Big hats off to actinic though. The new features are brilliant and the software looks cool. I've already plumped for Executive which I guess will be the default from now on. Lovely template though.

I'm playing with beta at present although I will probably throw everything away for a few days.

so when I've got the hang of it i will apply the changes to a new install and it will be clean. thats just my prefered way of working as I am doing some foolish things at the mo just to see how it works

Having imported several v7 ACD's into v8 it appears the main issues are coming from the original "unfriendly" actinic code .... sites that have had all the nested <tables> and associated cells removed are fairing much better on the upgrade.

I would be tempted to try and "wash" any v7 sites by applying a new theme (or the original un-touched theme) before exporting to v8 if you really want a direct upgrade ... otherwise build from the ground up in v8 and import just the data to give the cleanest fighting chance

In answer to your initial question, I suggest you don't start building your v8 store until the production release is out. This is because there is no guarantee you will be able to update your beta store to the full production release.

Yeah, probably wise. I guess I'll just ahve a play with it to work out how to do the things I want.
