    Unwelcome 10.0.3 idle timeouts

    Since upgrading to 10.0.3 my mole end site now times out after around 1 minute, my user menu is disabled and my user called 'Administrator' is no longer recognised through the login dialog (works in batch though), my shop administrator can log in but I can't access the users dialog. I've set the idle timeout to 29999 directly in the database but still get timeouts.

    Has anyone else seen anything like this?

    I've never had these problems before, the changes I've made are to upgrade to 10.0.3 and import a design snapshot.

    I think that it's a timeout rather than a crash because I have no dmp files.

    In a 10.0.2 site, my license gives me access to the users menu, in 10.0.3 it doesn't. I have a business plus 5 user license.

      Ok, I uninstalled Actinic and reinstalled it and loaded a full snapshot of my upgraded 10.0.3 site and most things started to work.

      To get the user menu to work I had to share the sites data, I was running it standalone previously - this I think is a bug, a very annoying one.

      Then I had to add order processor status to my administrator user because that had disappeared somehow in the upgrade.

      All I need now is to get the feefo feedback to show- it did show in the test version of the site but disappeared instantly once I uploaded from my machine. I think I'll leave that until March though - I'll all out of energy for site sleuthing.

      Another bug that I noticed is that a new variable was created for showing feefo data on product pages, it had no place of setting defined and so wasn't appearing anywhere.

        I can't put my finger on anything exact, but 10.0.3 just doesn't quite seem right to me, some weird things seem to happen and then they don't later on, i think inconsistent is probably the best word. I can't personally recall a beta version having so many beta versions and this probably reflects in what doesn't feel quite right. I've had more DMPs in the past 4 weeks than i've had in the last 18 months.

        The list of fixes was huge, i'm wondering if they did a few too many and it meant it dragged and dragged on further than intended. I think the list was very impressive and on the whole great work, to still not work on Windows 7 correctly was probably my biggest disappointment.

        I regularly get the hang or timeout too and it quite regularly completely loses the upload window mid process, without anything having been pressed, like a phantom press of cancel has occurred.

          I'm glad someone else feels that way-thought it was just me. I have had some very odd intermittent "glitches" that just go away for no reason.
          Intermittent crashes refreshing a site (it still refreshes but Actinic does a dmp on the hard disk and closes when the refresh ends) intermittent crashes during saving a snapshot (same thing: dmp's, completes, then shuts down).

          Vista and Win 7 seem to present the most problems/crashes in all versions of V9 and V10.

            I did some research into this a while ago and I believe that this is caused when the ftp connection is temporarily lost, I don't know how to prevent that happening though.

                Morning all,

                Just spotted this thread, its frustrating to hear there are a few teething issues with 10.0.3 and your sites. I'll ask someone to contact you individually and kick off some investigation.

                  Whenever it happens to me, I get no message, the upload window just vanishes, no warning or anything. It's very irritating that when actinic is uploading in the background while you use another application, it does not highlight that there has been an error.

                  I can be writing an email for say 20 minutes, only to switch back after i've finished and find out that actinic stopped uploading almost straight after it commenced. When you couple that with being unable to do any other actinic work while it uploads, it can make for very inefficient time usage.

                    That's the error I looked into - the upload dialog just disappears completely part way through an upload. I never found a solution for it.

                    Two more bugs from my V10.0.3 upgrade

                    1) After reinstalling, I used file / import orders to import my orders from my old 10.0.3 site to my new one, it hung at the beginning of the process with an error about not being able to create the index OrderTracking_PrimaryID because it already existed. I had to kill Actinic with task manager and then my database was corrupt and Actinic was unable to continue. I fixed that up by editing the database and removing said index.

                    2) I opened the site dialog, created a new site, switched to it and then reopened the site dialog and renamed my Mole End site from site1 to Mole End and got the error "The directory Mole End already exists" (it definitely didn't exist before the name change) and Actinic closed. I fixed this up by manually editing the site name in the sites.ini file and the registry.

                    I can look into these more after the half term holiday and report bugs but wanted to make a note of them for now so that I didn't forget about them.

                    Ben, I'm pretty sure that I raised a bug previously about the disappearing upload dialog, so my notes on what I found should be included there.

                      Sorry to hear about the issues you're having, that's very disappointing. I have asked someone in support to contact you so that we can get snapshots and investigate.

                      Are these upgraded sites that have the issues, or were they newly built in v10? Or a mixture of the two?

                      There was honestly nothing sinister about the number of betas. We have often had two, the reason for having a third on this occasion was the intervention of Christmas. We didn't want to put out a release just before the Christmas period, when our support capacity is reduced by staff holidays. But we knew that some people would want to test the fixes in v10.0.3 during the quiet period. A third beta seemed like a good compromise.

                        Providing a snapshot will be of no use IMO, it's not site specific, it's application specific, i've experienced it on 6 or 7 different sites and as mentioned it's not something you can put your finger on as very intermittent. To experience it yourself, you'd need to use actinic solidly for a week to understand. Switching sites does however seem rather unreliable a lot of the time, so perhaps keep trying that until you get a DMP.

                        I wasn't implying anything sinister, far from it in fact, you did it out in the open, it could never have been sinister. It seemed to take an age to be released from this end, probably a month later than I expected. It seemed to have a last minute problem (the one you spoke to Darren about in a thread), which delayed it after 2nd beta, then released it had a problem and still now the Windows 7 problems are not fixed (which i was hoping for, so i can use my new system to design on) - that's what is in my head that happened anyway - your least slick release for quite some time IME.

                        External testing might be key, I know I didn't do any 10.0.3 testing at all, that's not to say me testing things is the be all, very far from it in fact, i think it's more a sign of when I am involved, there is generally more focus on testing from your end or at least that's what it seems from this end - you are quite specific in signing people up and getting direct testing at certain times. Given the amount of changes in 10.0.3, hopefully you did have this as it was a massive and very good change on the whole.

                        PS - v9/v8/v7 upgrades or 10.0.2 upgrades are the main things i do. I've only created one brand new v10 site in that time.

                          With regards to the Windows 7 problems, what is the situation with these, is it that you cannot replicate it your end, or did time run out and you didn't manage to fix all of the issues?

                          If you cannot manage to replicate, would it perhaps be a good idea to setup a system as per one of your W7 customers has so you see the problems yourself?

                          I was asked if it was OK to dial into my failing W7 system, i said yes, but noone ever did, i wrongly assumed this meant that W7 problems were history, the offer still stands though. This is the part i'd like fixed more than anything, got a £2500 new system that i don't have the confidence to switch over to fully yet, still chugging away on an XP relic.

                            I know this isn't any help, but it's info at least - after Lee upgraded our V9 site to 10.0.03 (running W7 64-bit) we haven't had any obvious issues at all, apart from the usual oddities which we're used to with Actinic anyway
                            Nothing show-stopping.
                            We also get the upload or snapshot screen disappearing, but a drill-down through the windows reveals it's still there, beavering away.

                              hmm recently i keep getting errors with automatically downloading orders, i had turned of the 3d status as this crashed it in an ealier bug but it sort of seems to be working but im wondering if this is causing the current errors as i have now turned it back on.

                              Does anyone use RTSC - recently (since 10.0.3 upgrade) i have sold a number of products that should be out of stock, i cant put my finger on it but some levels do not appear to be correct but i cant find the reason. i am wondering if this has something to do with psp pending allocations, i dont allocate to them but wondered if actinic was adding them on to stock because its set not to down stock. As i said i cant put my finger on were the problem is

                              Also the PSP payoffline still changes to test mode when a payment call back comes through, despite this being raised as an issue and actinic not wanting to spend a couple quid on trying a real live order and seeing what happens

                              But i have to agree with the general feeling
