    Email data capture from shopping cart

    Hello,

    Do any of you use any kind of data and information capture for people who abandon shopping carts before purchase? Is there a way to get hold of their email addresses at this point?

    We have been having cart problems with our Sage Pay and neither Sage Pay nor Sellerdeck can tell us what is going wrong. Seems when customers click pay, the screen drops before its loaded and forwarded onto Sage Pay. We are looking to get in touch with those customers who this happens too and then they just leave for another store?

    Looking for information on data capture and on the off chance someone else here, has/is having the same problem with their cart.

    Can you check in pending payments to see if they are in there

    Quite often people get to payment page and then abandon cart as they are just checking the amount due

    A badly made site that hides the postage charges till the last moment can cause this as the customer see's a total and then gets lumbered with a high postage charge

    If we see any in the pending page we just open them and try and contact by email of phone to see if there was a problem, about 75% we manage to get the order by this method

      Found them, thanks.

      We offer free postage with all our products, so we think its down to this glitch. We have not been able to re-create this glitch but our customer service department has had calls about this happening to a few customers.

        There have been problems in the past where the sellerdeck checkout will freeze on the transfer to PSP due a DOM problem (IIRC). Norman identified this and did produce a patch that would show if the problem existed.

        PS 1. Sellerdeck will create the order on the system when it transfers to the psp so if that order with the details doesn't appear in psp pending then it looks like the problem is your end rather than sage pay.

        PS 2. The customer details will appear in the file on the server that sellerdeck uses for the order details up to the payment point. These eventually get deleted so you'd need some sort of an automatic cleanup system to save the relevant details to a file you could download and look at.

          Thank you, I will try this.

          Been bounced pillar to post between Sellerdeck and Sage, to the point I have given up on fixing it.

          Will let you know if this works, I will be incredibly pleased if it does as its been a headache now for the past 6 months.
