    Fix Nasty URL Structure

    Good Friday all,

Has anybody encountered URL's appearing like the below?

    https://www.columnradiators4u.co.uk/...radiators.html

We have the URL set to " https://www.columnradiators4u.co.uk/...radiators.html " inside of SellerDeck, and this is what gets used for the canonical URL.

Would be nice to see a standard structure instead of a pretty nasty CGI-BIN page.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi Matt

CGI URLs tend to be used for links to product pages from outside the section hierarchy, eg in search results and marketing lists. In these contexts they are much quicker and more efficient to implement. We do have a wish list ticket to remove them (WL-558), and I've added your request to that.

However, the canonical tags added in v14 do ensure that search engines only index the static URLs. They also prevent the CGI URLs being regarded as duplicate content. So in reality, implementing the change would only bring cosmetic benefit. It would also divert a significant amount of development effort away from other tasks that are potentially much more useful.
