Paypal: FW: Action needed: Updates required for your Website Payments Standard integr

    Hi
Has anyone else running SD2013 received an email from PayPal similar to the below:

Update your integration before 18 January 2017.

    Name Here,

On 18 January 2017, we’ll be making some updates to make the checkout process on Website Payments Standard even better, which means your integration will be affected.
We’ve noticed that your integration has been passing either invalid or incorrect data to PayPal from one or more of your payment buttons. To make sure your payments continue to be processed, you’ll need to update your integration as soon as possible.

Here are some of the benefits you’ll receive with your updated integration:
    • PayPal One Touch™, our fastest, easiest checkout experience enabling your shoppers to check out at the click of a button
    • A mobile-optimised checkout experience, so buying is easy no matter how your customers shop
    • A new, simpler design that is consistent across both desktop and mobile
What do you need to do?

Please check out these FAQs for more information on common integration issues. Additional details can be found in our developer documentation here.

When you’ve updated your integration, your customers will see the updated experience.

As always, if you need help or have any questions, call us or visit our Help Centre.
    Thanks

I have also received the email, looks to be genuine from Paypal. I'll raise a support request as I can't work out what we need to do.

      P.S. We are running 2016 - so doesn't look like a 2013 issue.

      Cheers
      Kev

          Hi, Answer was:

          Hello,

I understand you would had an enquiry in regards to the issue reported on the community: http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?p=352888

The email Paypal have sent to you is in regards to data validation error (which claims the data is broken), however Paypal have said for a previous customer the email they have sent recently was regarding TLS 1.2 and HTTP/1.1 Upgrade, I would suggest you disregard the email. As support for the TLS v1.2 security standard is included in version 16.02, this would be fine.

If your Paypal integration is working on your website and you have upgraded to 16.02, I suggest you disregard the email sent to you.

Please let me know if you require further information,
          Kind regards,

Rahima Zahir | Technical Support | SellerDeck

          Thanks

            Thanks Rahima
Unfortunately that doesn't really answer MY question though as I am running SellerDeck 2013... do I need to be worried that on the 18th January my PayPal integrations will not work at all?

If this the case is there a fix in the works?

            Thanks

            Mick

If this email is about the upcoming Paypal requirements for http/1.1 and TLS 1.2 then the key issues as far as I'm aware are:

              1. The key deadline is June 2017. It's possible Paypal are saying January because there are always people who leave thing until the last minute. I am surprised at the discrepancy in dates though.

              2. http/1.1 has been supported by Sellerdeck since V11.0.4 so you should be OK for this. People using earlier versions need to look seriously at upgrading as I'm not aware of any plans to make this available for earlier versions.

              3. TLS 1.2 support is built into V16.0.2 for paypal transactions from the desktop. Sellerdeck are hoping to provide an update for some earlier versions. http://community.sellerdeck.com/show...9&postcount=58

We do hope to provide a similar upgrade for some versions prior to SellerDeck 2016. I will post an announcement when more information is available.

              4. Online transactions from the website require TLS 1.2 support on the server which is something you should check with your webhost. 1&1 are rolling out the upgrade for this across their servers but I don't know about other hosts. There is a php script you can use to run a test on your server against the paypal test servers. See the thread here http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=56703 for details.

Thanks Mike; we are hosted with SellerDeck so I assume we are covered on that score - the email from PayPal doesn't mention anything about http/1.1 and TLS 1.2 though so I am unsure if we are talking about the same thing... hopefully support will clarify...
