Recent update to 'Google Product Search data feed' to include 'condition' attribute

You may have recently received an email from Google advising that to use the “Google Product Search data feed”, you need to add a “condition” attribute to the “Google Product Search data feed”. Please see the steps below to create this new attribute:-

    1. In SellerDeck, go to 'Design | Library | Variables'
    2. Right click on the 'Products' group, and select 'New Variable'
    3. Complete the variables as per the screenshot below:

    4. Click the “Choice” button
    5. Add the following choices:

    6.Click “OK”

Now if you take a look at the product in the content tree, and go to the 'Properties' tab, you will be able to select the condition of the product from a drop down list, this will also be exported in the Google Product Search data feed.

    PLEASE NOTE:

Google renamed their service after production work on version 8 had ceased, so in v8 it will be called: -

Include in Google Base Data Feed

and sits in the same position as the v9 and v10 tick box.

Version 10 of the software has a new variable called 'condition' and is set to 'New' by default. If you have upgraded from an earlier version of the software and already have your own 'condition' variable, then go to 'Design | Library | Variables' open the 'Product' group then open the 'condition' variable and untick the 'Include in Google Product Search Data Feed' tickbox and click 'OK' or delete your own variable and use this one instead.

Unfortunately as it was introduced for v8.5.2 of the software, it is unavailable for older versions of v8.
If you wish to do this in version 8, you will need to upgrade the version you have to the last available version of v8 (v8.5.3.IHDB), it is free and available to download from the web site.

In version 7 of the software the fields for export are hard coded so the only way to do this is to open the exported text file in a text editor (or a spreadsheet program such as 'Microsoft Excel' * ), add the extra column and fill it in with the appropriate values (easier if they're the same for all).

Alternatively you could look at one of the data export programs for Google available from one of the many third party software suppliers for the software such as the one here which support custom fields.

    SellerDeck 2016 v16.01 onwards

From version v16.01 onwards, there is no longer an option to include the variable in the product feed and the tick box 'Include in Google Product Search Data Feed' tick box is removed. Instead of this, go to 'Design | Library | Layouts', scroll down to the group 'XML Feeds' and expand it opening the layout 'Google Product Feed Layout

Should any variable need to be added to the feed then it will need to be added to the 'Google Product Feed Layout', however this variable must be expected and accepted by Google.

    * Microsoft Excel is supplied as part of the 'Microsoft Office Professional' program suite, it is not supplied by SellerDeck.
