    Error when uploading catalog

I'm setting up a v5 catalog and have moved it from one host where I was testing it to another (same company using the same hosting interface just a different server)

Used to work fine but now when I refresh or update the catlog online I get this error when it starts to Merge the updates at the end...

A server error occurred while attempting to merge server files. 403 - Access Forbidden
Any idea what might be causing this? I haven't done anything different!!! Honest!!

I sometimes get this error when I have configured a Catalog using Advanced Network Settings instead of Web > Configure Website Details.

Try running the configure website details again, there may be some sutble differences between the two servers, even if they are the same operating system.

If it's running on a cobalt raq check if any of the paths contain a directory name like "site48" - the site number on the server may have changed between servers.

The only answer I can see is that something must have changed at your web hosts. Maybe they rebooted the servers, which accidentally reset some of the user/directory permissions.

Are you using NT or Unix hosting?

        Error when uploading catalog

Have the same problem with V4 business
when updating with the same server (my Internet host says did not change anything)
at the end says internal error -400 bad request

worked find during more than one year !
the only thing i did before problemes appear is publishing the all site with "erased products" without "purging" the catalog database
"purged" since but have the same problem
the worst is i have 4 orders i can not read since this morning
        any idea ?

              They are both 2000 servers...

I've had a play about with permissions on the folders and will let you know what the result is...

You are going to need to be a bit clearer. Could you please tell me what steps you did and what the result was. What is the error you receive and when. Also, what type of server are you uploading to.

Problems like this are very difficult to pin down in a forum as there are many reasons why your web space could have stopped working with Actinic. We need as much information as possible to make an educated suggestion.

This is from the Advanced Users Guide (available from www.actinic.co.uk). Hope it helps you in your playing.

NT Server will require 'read, write, execute, delete' permissions in the 'cgi-bin' and 'acatalog' directories for the FTP account user ID. The acatalog directory also requires the 'IUSER_<servername> internet guest' account to have access with 'read, write, execute, delete' permissions.

Actinic also requires NTFS file permissions for the CGI-BIN and acatalog directories within IIS4 of 'read and execute' for 'cgi-bin' and 'read, write, execute' for the 'acatalog' directory.
If it is not possible to allow a Actinic user to have the above permissions on their website, then there is a workaround that involves the Actinic user manually generating the files.

MikeC - I have started a new thread with your last posting as it is a separate issue.

No... all those permissions have been set now and it still fails at the merge....

I presume (looking at other people's problems) that this merge is performed by a PERL script on the server rather than the Actinic program.

Could a different version of PERL cause this error??

I've asked the host to look at the versions and see what they are..
