I'm having problems connecting to the EPOS database over a network

If you have problems connecting to an EPOS database, there can be many different “cannot connect” errors. Below are some solutions to try:

Try temporarily disabling the firewalls on all PCs (don't forget to check Windows firewalls too) in case they are blocking the traffic. If this gets it working then you can add in an exception for the software or the IP address of the host PC.

If you cannot connect to the database going through the network, try a mapped network drive (Windows Explorer | Tools | Map network drive)

Go to Windows Firewall | “Advanced” tab | untick “Local Area Connection”. This allows network resources to shared without a firewall

    Try the following:
    1) Close SellerDeck on all PCs
    2) Browse to your 'Checkout' folder and copy the 'data.mdb' file and paste it in the same folder
    3) Change the name of “data.mdb” to “databackup.mdb”
    4) Change the name of “copy of data.mdb” to “data.mdb”

    Try compacting the EPOS databases:
    * First, close down EPOS on all PCs
    * Go to Start | Programs | SellerDeck EPOS | Compact | Click 'CompactDataDB'
    * Go to Start | Programs | SellerDeck EPOS | Compact | Click 'CompactOrderDB'
    * Go to Start | Programs | SellerDeck EPOS | Compact | Click 'CompactStockMovementDB'
    * Go to Start | Programs | SellerDeck EPOS | Compact | Click 'CompactTransactionDB'
    * Go to Start | Programs | SellerDeck EPOS | Compact | Click 'CompactZreadDB'
