£ appears as ? in diamond

I have just noticed a bad bug on our extended info pages, the £ sign is replaced with question mark on an inverted diamond shape.

Please help I think this will be affecting our sales.

This only appears on some computers.

Copy the DOCTYPE from the top of your outerlayout:
        Code:
        <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">

          Hi Pete,

We had this after moving to V10. I spoke to our hosting company and they fixed it by adding the following line to the top of our .htaccess file:

          AddCharset UTF-8 .html

As it cured the problem I didn't look any further into the whys and wherefores. Might be worth a try if Duncan's solution doesn't fix it.

          Cheers,

          Tom

Dont know if its an actinic bug as this happened on our site a few months ago (the main site is not actinic just the shop), it happened out of the blue so i assumed it was caused by some change with the browser.
