is there a tick box somewhere where you can say yes my site uses coupons or no it doesn't.

I've noticed the that the checkout automatically includes the option for a customer to input a coupon I want to remove this but am thinking there should be a neater way to do this rather than commenting out Coupon Entry Field in layout Checkoutpage1

If you go to marketing / discounts and surcharges settings, there are check boxes on the miscellaneous tab to say where discounts can be entered, if you untick all of these, I would expect discount box entry boxes to disapear.
