    Domain Name - Does it matter?

    We also have a Halloween website at www.partyhalloween.co.uk but we are now looking at stocking other party & fancy dress products too.

    My question is;

    Does the fact the domain name includes the word Halloween matter?

    An American site www. halloweenexpress. com does it already.

    No not really Pete. If it does then it's a very tiny amount added to the bigger pot. But of course it helps with the listing in the SERP's (as it gets highlighted when someone searches for Halloween), and creates a more focused site to the consumer.

    If you start adding 1960's, Christmas, Heroes to a site titled Halloween then that may be confusing to the consumer. Best stick to the theme, but that's my opinion.

    What was the reason for the branch off from the main site? was it to try and get better results in the search engines?

      Having the word Halloween in the domain may help your ranking if someone searches for Halloween, as having Fancydress in the domain may help of searching for fancydress however most websites sell items that are not in their domain name. I doubt it will matter, just work on the SEO text of the pages and get external inbound links to them which is more important.

        You have other fancy dress websites in your signature, why not simply list the details of each website on the other.

        ie: Halloween one would have a link saying see our sister site for your party fancy dress, and the fancy dress one around Halloween should have a link saying checkout our Halloween sister site etc
        I have no signature
