    Significant speed improvements

    A large v9 site has been imported into v11 and I have to report some significant increases in speed.

    Backups:
    v9 = 30 mins
    v11 = 12 mins

    Purge and refresh:
    v9 : 35 mins
    v11 : 20 mins

    I can now spend more time over my skinny double mocha latte napoleon fudgie-woodgie extra light full-biff coffee (with sprinkles). Good work Actinic

    I assume the V10 references are wrong then?

        The speed improvements are certainly impressive.

        But surely this gives you less time with your coffee? As in, I can't do anything for the next 30 minutes, might as well pop out for a .....(insert favourite caffeine fix here)

          The saving in snapshotting has made a big impact - I typically start my full backup routine at 5.00pm to finish at 5.30pm then leave the office. Under v9 if I had not started the backup by 4.15pm I would not run another knowing I may not get it finished in time.

          Just run the v11 at 5.10pm and it has exported to ACD and dumped to a flash stick and still have 5 mins left!

          Extra time to savour the coffee and find a biscuit to go with it.

            Had you come out your nuclear bunker earlier Jonty, you'd have saved much the same with V10 on W7, truly remarkable improvements over v9 I have had. I did some work on a v9 site last week, only a days worth, but OMG it was a drag, it's all too easy to forget how much speed improvement has been made. The single thread upload and snapshot is horrific in V9 now compared to V10 and above.

              I've been having similar conversations with a lot of customers. One of the most popular upgrade has been v8 / early v9 sites to v11. This means the speed and performance improvements we have made over the past two years are catching people by surprise.

              While its nice to make people happy it really goes to show its worth being on the latest release if possible. We are constantly tweaking and improving things.

                Possibly true - the grief of upgrading a massively hacked site compared to the benefits gained in v10 kept me firmly inside the bunker. Single use coupons has forced my hand as I can now offer redeemable vouchers - don't expect me to even open the bunker window again until v20

                I have not yet gone live so the v9 bunker still keeps me comforted.
