Data Base fault during upload - Resuting in Total Loss

    Hi,

I am desperate for some urgent help.
I down loaded about 50 orders and then started an upload. After about 20 mins actinic crashed and now I cant get it to work at all. I have tried to look at the database via Access but it won’t open all I get is a Unrecognized database format message. Which also stops me from compacting and repairing it. Please has any one got a suggestions?

    Many thanks

I suggest you make a copy of the database as a backup, then contact Actinic support and see if they can assist in recovering the database. It sounds like you may have to restore to your last snapshot.

      Doesn't sound good I'm afraid.
You can try a compact/repair through "Administrative Tools | Data Sources ODBC" settings. There are Compact and Repair options in there, however you may get the same error if the database file is 'fragged'.

Copy database file, send to Actinic support and restore from backup as Duncan said, would be best advice.

Thanks, Unfortunately my telephone cover has expired (haven’t needed it for 4 years or so) didn’t say but I’m using version 8.
Tried to compact/repair through "Administrative Tools but no joy. I have put back my last back up which was on Sunday afternoon, but I’m missing about 40 orders. The corrupt data base is pretty much the same size as my backup so the info should be there just don’t know how to repair it or even look at the individual tables, that way I might be able to find out what they ordered. Aggghhhh!!!

We had the same problem a few years back and to overcome the loss we get a copy of the confirmation email sent to us after each order, a bit of a pain but only thaks a couple of seconds to delete them after the download is completed

IN which case I'd be Googling for an answer or buying a Microsoft Access recovery tool e.g. Access Repair Application

              Hi,

I used a program called stellar Phoenix Access Recovery. Didnt buy it but the free demo allowed me to view what was in the tables so i made new orders with that information for the missing orders. All ok now.
              Thanks for your help...
