    Shipping costs in basket

Would be nice if we could have shipping costs in basket, even with quantities on product pages.
    Kind regards,

    Michael

I looked at this a while ago but didn't follow it through. If you have a cookie with the shipping country set up the shipping costs are displayed. all you need to do is create a cookie if there isn't one already there. I think

      +1 from me.

      I'd like either:

'Quantity on Product Page' shopping mode to work when 'Request Location Information Early' option is set.

      Or:

Ability for customer to select location information on Shopping Cart page (thus eliminating the Confirmation Page).

If neither of these things is possible (although I don't really see why) and the only option is to use the 'Quantity on Confirmation Page' shopping mode, could the Confirmation Page be formatted consistent with the rest of the site design so that it can be used on mobile devices and touch screens? i.e. make the quantity box a decent size and add proper increment/decrement buttons.

Yes the cart is very misleading with a total that includes shipping but it is not listed as a field until after the checkout.

Has cost us orders where customers do not like the totals not making sense.

Norman kindly provided a brilliant fix - support just said it is request location early (messy) and is earmarked for a future update.

I would also like shipping cost shown to buyer at the earliest opportunity. Also, when paying by Paypal Express, delivery charge is not shown untill AFTER payment which is ridiculous!
          Thank you
          Kind regards

The delivery charge in basket shouldn't be that complicated to solve should it? For returning visitors the shipping address etc are stored in a cookie and shipping will be shown in the basket as soon as an item is added. shipping will be calculated with only the basic country selected, the other fields of the address form can be left blank. So all that it should need is to create a default cookie with the default shipping options set when there is no customer cookie already present.

As you say the shipping charges could easily be shown for the default location / service with a 'change' button allowing customers to use the existing 'set location early' feature if they need to see the shipping charges for a different location / service.

              Would get my vote.

This is the sort of request I would have expected in 2010, not 2016!

If I knew this was coming in SD2017 I'd be more than happy to renew my SellerDeck cover.

In the industry generally, the most common practice seems to be to show new customers the cheapest available shipping cost for a local delivery, until they enter their actual delivery address and choose a shipping option.

Would that be an acceptable approach?

That would be fine for me as at least 80% would be correct.

That'd be fine for me too, as long as the Zone/Class description is displayed in the basket next to the delivery amount, e.g. "UK Standard Delivery".

                        John

P.S. it would be nice if the user could select a different country from within the basket, so it would then display the cheapest class for that zone. But only if this could be implemented while still allowing 'Quantiy on Product Page' shopping mode.

For me it needs to be the cheapest appropriate shipping cost for the items in the basket. i.e if shipping is by weight or category etc then it needs to show the cheapest available shipping rate for the products in the basket.

Just making sure. Making assumptions when specifying something can lead to big mistakes.
