    Design | Text

If you want to change the wording of some text on your site but cannot find it in the layouts, you will be more than likely to find it in the 'Design Text' dialogue (click on the 'Design' menu and select 'Text)'.

Each entry in here is known as a 'prompt' and includes the wording or html that you find on your website, in error messages or in the SellerDeck reports.

There are three ways to find the prompt that you need in 'Design | Text':
Searching – Use the search facility to search the whole of 'Design | Text'. Enter the search string into the text box at the bottom right-hand corner of the 'Design | Text' window and click 'Search'. Click 'Next' to search for further instances of the search string.

(Note: if you type the text into the search box and press 'enter' the window will close. This is because the 'OK' button has the focus.)

'Go To' button - This will allow you to go straight to a prompt by entering the unique 'Phase' and 'ID' value. These are shown at the bottom left of the 'Design | Text' window (next to the 'Go To' button). If you know the ID of the prompt you want, you can click the 'Go To' button and enter it in the window that appears. Click 'OK' to locate the prompt in the database you have selected in the 'Database' drop down list.

The majority of the prompts have a 'Phase' of -1 but there are a few that use other numbers.

Browsing – You can browse through the tabs in 'Design | Text' to find the text you want to change. Each tab in the top row has a set of sub-tabs to make the prompt you are looking for easier to find.

Web Site - These tabs allow modification of a large number of field labels, user-defined prompts and error and warning messages.

Web Site (cont) - This is where you can configure all the prompts and labels on the online checkout pages. More information is in Changing Checkout Questions.

Web (Shipping) - The same as 'Web Site' except it is purely related to Shipping prompts.

Catalog Reports – Prompts used in the 'Summary', 'Detail' and 'Stock' reports etc.

Order Processing Reports – Prompts used in the 'Packing List', 'Invoice' and 'Data Entry' reports etc.

Sales Reports - Prompts used in the 'Transaction', 'and 'Sales Analysis' reports.
You can also decide whether to actually show certain prompts on the website or not. For example, if you want to show a 'Company' field on the 'Invoice Address' page of checkout, then you would check the box under the 'Show' column against prompt 'Phase' 0, 'ID' 3.

If you always want your customers to fill out this field then you would also tick the box under the 'Required' column too. This means that if the customer does not complete the 'Company' field they will receive an error message when they try to move on to the next stage of checkout and will not be able to proceed until they complete this field.

Change the prompt text by clicking in the 'Current Value' field at the bottom of the screen. The limit for each prompt is 4096 characters. If you find the 'Current Value' field to small you can use the 'zoom' feature to expand it (right-click in the field and select 'zoom' or click in the field and press [Shift + F2]). This window can be expanded further if you need it to be.

You can restore an individual prompt back to the default setting by clicking the 'Restore Default' button or you can restore all the defaults on the current tab by clicking the 'Restore All Defaults' button.

Wherever you see a '%d' or a '%s' in a prompt, it stands for a variable that will be substituted for some text from the SellerDeck application, or from another prompt. It is not a good idea to delete these as SellerDeck might get out of sequence with substituting values and therefore cause an error. Use HTML comment marks instead (start with '<!--' and end with '-->') to hide the values from SellerDeck.
