Google product feed
The ability to edit the contents of the
"Google Search Product Feed" Google changes it's requirements periodically and the ability to edit the created output by SD would be Cool. Dave

I'd agree with you there, Dave. What extra fields were you looking to export?

Hey Andy
Should have (at this point in time and for it to be of value in the U.S) 1) brand 2) condition 3) product type 4) availability 5) mpn 6) id 7) promotion id In other words, any variable that Google dreams up that is newly required. We should be able to add or select any variable that is standard or added by the user in SD. Should also be able to do UPS shipping costs based on weight and the UPS plugin that is in the US version. Dave

this plug in looks interesting.
I wonder if it can help me. I sell mostly products that are available in sizes (linked hidden products using attributes/components) On my google feed only each master product is featured. However I notice some competitors have their sizes featured in google shopping, but that they link through to the same master product. For example this search 16mm wooden flesh tunnel Shows Wooden Flesh Tunnel - Ebony (16mm) £8.00 from BodyJewelleryShop.com and this 12mm wooden flesh tunnel Shows Wooden Flesh Tunnel - Ebony (12mm) £8.00 from BodyJewelleryShop.com But they both link through to the same master product! How do they do that? Can I do that by linking or merging my hidden products with my master products? using this software? Any clues? search shows

Hi Mark
Not too sure about how Google feed enables product linking but we could easily add an option to the plug-in to export a 'parent' product reference so you can export all your hidden associate products with a reference to their common master product.

so could your software be made to export a feed like that?

Yes, it could do that with some tweaking. I'd need a bit more info about how you store your Sellerdeck data. Could you email me a sample of your current feed and we can perhaps continue this offline? I have sent you my email address via private message.

From v16.0.1 the Google feed is generated from a layout, 'Google Product Feed Layout', which may be edited like any other. A number of new fields were added including most of the ones listed above, and the feed can also include user-defined variables.
The feed is now generated in XML format and uploaded automatically to the site. |

I stand corrected but I think this file is created and uploaded on the fly during a catalog upload. The file is then available in the site root directory:
Code:
www.mysite.com/google-products.xml

Following upload you will find a local copy of the file in the SiteHTML folder, which is usually
C:\ProgramData\SellerDeck\SellerDeck 2016\Sites\SiteName\SiteHTML where 'SiteName' is the name of the site in Sellerdeck Desktop |

Google Products XML
Quote:
I have often wondered where the HTML files are located. The "google-products.xml" is in a different format to the "data_feed.txt" file exported from SD2014. Can this be manually uploaded to Google Merchant Centre and is it interpreted in the same way to satisfy Google Data Feed Specification requirements? Please also see link to my other post #6 below: http://community.sellerdeck.com/showthread.php?t=57289 I feel it would be helpful if you could respond to this also with the above quote as it answers the question raised there.
