    Actinic EPOS Network

We currently have Actinic EPOS Network and have two pc's side by side on the shop counter but we'd like to move the 'master' pc out of the shop and into the office.

Is it just a case of getting a "bloody long lead" to link them together or would it simply link wirelessly via the router situated by the shop counter?

I am assuming both PC's are currently linked to the router so yes a long lead (max 100metres for CAT5) will work, wireless will also work if the PC you are moving has wireless. One other way that works successfully is to use devices that plug into the mains sockets and transmit the data over the mains wiring. You would need two devices one near the router with a CAT5 cable connecting to the router and a second unit plugged in near the PC you are moving again with a short CAT5 lead connecting to the PC. You can have more than two of these units on the ring main and it is a simple solution, but more costly than wires, however if you do not want wires trailing everywhere it can be cost effective. These are the same units you get with a BT vision package or you can get them on the internet, try searching for eConnect HomePlug or MicroLink dLAN.

The only limitation is that all the mains sockets need to be on the same ring, if you have a three phase supply with sockets on different phases they will not work.
