Restricting product sales by country

We have some products that are too heavy to send overseas or have compatibility issues so we only sell the to UK customers and send them by courier.

I have played with the shipping setups a lot but cannot find a way to restrict products to certain countries / zones. What I want to do is to say for a certain product this can only be sent to UK mainland and there is a compulsory courier charge regardless of order value.

As country is not specified by customer until the checkout, cannot pick this up at the time it is added to cart but do need to have something in the checkout that says "sorry, product [PRODUCTNAME] is not available for despatch to your country and has been removed from your cart" or something similar.

Has anyone else set up anything like this?

Hi Keith,

The way to do this would be to set your shipping by weight. Give these products a huge weight and restrict the weight limit on the non-uk countries so it doesn't include these products or give an extra cost to them. You could also put a message onto these products to say that they are only shipped to the UK.
