Invitation to Tender – Mower Magic
Overview:
We have a requirement for some development work to be done over this autumn and winter.
We currently have a very busy online presence, selling garden machinery and associated spare parts . The spare parts side of the business needs a major overhaul and update.
The spare parts listed on our site at the moment have all been individually added, based on customer demand and acquired knowledge. They are mostly “popular parts” like blades, belts, filters, batteries etc etc but we also cater for 1000’s of ad-hoc requests for parts that are not listed on the website, but for which we do have access and can supply.
The Requirement:
We have a requirement for full Parts Lists and Diagrams to be available to our customers so that every part is visible and available to purchase online. This will result in a vast increase in sales and cut down on the amount of telephone work required to ‘research’ these non-listed parts.
We have access to the parts lists and diagrams, all of which would need massaging / extracting / formatting etc to a common format for importing into the database. There will be 100’s of diagrams and 1000’s of parts involved. Many machine diagrams have more than one "view" - each view looking at a different part of the machine. For example a mower might have a view of the handles, then the body & wheels, then the gearbox.
We are aware that there will be duplicated parts – eg. A screw may be common to many different machines. This will need to be addressed
We are aware that Actinic may or may not be the correct platform for this work. Whichever platform is chosen will need to have all the usual back-end functionality that a current user of Actinic is familiar with. We currently run v10 Enterprise with SQL database.
