Advanced Filtering with multiple values within a single line variable

    Hi everyone,
We are looking into a potential new site with for a customer and have hit a bit of a brick wall when it comes to the filtering.

The client sells toner cartridges/inks etc and has a spread sheet where a product e.g. Canon Cyan Ink can be used within multiple Canon Printers e.g X200, X220, X300 etc.

What we found is that we can set up a variable called model and assign it to a product, however we cannot assign more than one model number as this is what displays within the filter options on the left hand side. e.g. If I assigned X220, X250 then X220, X250 is displayed either within the dropdown or check box.

I have spoken to Sellerdeck and the solution that they suggested was to created individual hidden duplicates for each model variation of the product e.g. Canon Cyan X220, Canon Cyan X250. The client has a catalogue of about 8000 products so creating duplicates isn't an option at all.

The reason for the post is to see whether anyone else has come across a similar issue or know of anyone that could create a bespoke coding solution that can recognize multiple search terms through a single line and display them as individual options within the filter area.

Thank you in advance to anybody who replies back.
    Regards.
