Real Time stock display in IE

I have RTS enabled and when testing the site in IE8 and IE9 the display is erratic. Stock quantites show at the start but disappear after item is added to basket. Also finding that items value sometimes shows a value even after basket is emptied. These problems persist even if browser is closed down and restarted. (IE8 is on a WinXp32bit machine and IE9 is on a Win7 64bit machine)

Doesn't seem to be a problem in Firefox Chrome or Opera on either machine
