SSL Checkout / Coupon Codes in the Basket / Google Checkout

    Hi,

A while ago we were attempting to use coupon codes in the basket but there was a problem with these codes not being passed through to the checkout process.

SellerDeck support said this was because our checkout was SSL enabled and it was using different cookies for SSL and non-SSL so the coupon code couldn’t be passed through to our SSL checkout.

We accepted this and just enabled coupons in the checkout only.

Now we want to start using Google Checkout but have come across the issue of them taking over the checkout process and according to the SellerDeck Help there are several limitations:
To use Google Checkout you must have SSL enabled, at least for the checkout pages.
If you are using Google Checkout and you want to provide shoppers with coupon codes that trigger discounts you must use SellerDeck coupon codes and capture them in the product pages, in the cart, or via a web or email link. Google Checkout will not accept SellerDeck-generated coupon codes, and the SellerDeck integration with Google Checkout is unable to recognise Google-supplied codes.
Now the above two statements contradict each other because according to SellerDeck support, you can’t use an SSL checkout with coupon codes in the cart.

Is the problem of accepting coupons in the basket and using SSL checkout pages something that can be fixed in a later version or is there some kind of work around available ?

It does seem like a fundamental fault.
