Related Sections? is it possible

hi i have been playing with related products

but what i wanted to achieve was;

product A: is from manufactuer A
but
product B: is similar to the one from manufactuer A but from manufactuer B

so what i want is to have a link on product A saying we have similar products in this section

am i going mad?
can this be done?
or have i lost the plot buy not using search properly
