Hi,
I needs to manage stock at component level; size, colour, lining type etc. etc. so for each product x 10 sizes x 10 colours x a few other options I get to 4-500 products per article.
I initially created these in excel, imported into SAGE and uploaded these using SAGELINK to Actinic, but then tried to manually hide over 4000 products. Gave up as it was taking 2-3 minutes to select a product. Looked on this site and found notes on performance and duly reduced some cache buffers as advised to speed things up. This seems to have help, but the system soon froze and database got corrupted. Even Sagelink now gives errors ?
I 've given up this approach, so wanted to try a flat file import. Could somebody direct me to the flat file product layouts schema please, and the best way to upload and automatically hide 4-5000 products ?
I think Actinic must be looping everytime a product is edited...is it just me or is there a better approach ?
Could I keep all the 'ghost products' externally, create a host product and component and then link via the permutations to an external file. That way I can avoid 000's of products in my system, which are only there to serve as quantity placeholders. Would appreciate some instruction on how to achieve this too, if its possible.
