    Searching Variable Text Property

I want to give my product (seeds) a new variable to search by. This variable does not change any price nor is it a choice to buy so it is not set up as a choice or attribute. However, it is to be searchable.

The variable is for a choice of "months of the year" to sow, but the seed product can have many "months of the year", so I have not set it up as a standard variable (such as list of choices or true/false which will only allow one entry per product) but as a new text variable, allowing each month to be entered separated by commas.

Now I want to search that field: but obviously as a partial search term so that the customer can add one month to search on. (Ideally I would have liked to have made a dropdown list of months for the customer to choose, but I cant see how to make that link to the text variable.)

I have made the variable searchable by following the AUG but next to the search box on the search page, all of the variables in the products are appearing as text. The AUG says that this field is not partially searchable either and it seems to only work if you put the first word of the variable in the search box.

I have uploaded the search page and in 2 products I have put the text in the variable and called them Any, April, May (I had to add ANY as this was not working) - you will see the text next to the search box and you will see that this box only works if you type in the word Any as this is the first word in the variable set to the products.

Will this not work at all?

I did think if there was some way perhaps being better of setting up a true/false variable for each month of the year for each product and then setting these choices as a search but that seems very long winded both in each product and on the search page.

Does anyone have any other ideas of getting this working?
