Welcome to the July 2009 Actinic update.
The biggest news this month is regarding our next maintenance release, v9.0.5.
V9.0.5 and Private Beta
We have been working really hard since the launch of v9.0.4 to bring another v9 maintenance release hot on the heels of the last. This release fixes most of the more serious bugs that could not be fitted into v9.0.4, plus a few others that were reported more recently or more frequently.
The release includes:
- Encrypt private data in nqset00.fil
- Crash when adding php-based condition to library in basic view
- Preview performance: preview generation can be very slow on creating new component/attribute/choice
- Typo in Title tag of Act_ActPayOK.html
- No warning for unacceptable character in image name
- Content category crash when drag 'n drop sections
- Importing a new layout type crashes EC
- Occasional bug when sending files even though the upload dialog says 428/428 against sending base files
- Crash EC quits when exporting snapshot
- Order totals differ if Component set to separate order-line in Tax Inclusive mode
- Using 'Find' dialog after searching with Find Ordered Products does not return any search results
- Problems with Single Add to Cart Button
- Incorrect permutation price on the MOTO form if one component with two attributes
- Components display oddly in email
- Card type reset if one of fields is incorrect
- Login cookie not accepted when SSL is on different domain name
We are currently testing the release in house and hope to have it available for private beta in the coming days.
Since v9.0.4 a lot of people have asked me why we have a private at all, so I wanted to use this as an opportunity to explain the process. Part of the flexibility of Actinic is the wide range of potential configurations, such as host and server options, payment types, Desktop OS etc. While we do test a lot of this in house its pretty difficult to cover every possible permutation, so we ask for help from you guys 'n gals. The private beta is a small set of users that cover a wide range of scenarios, its almost our sanity check to make sure there is nothing we have missed before it goes out for public beta.
With all being well the public beta will be available in the coming weeks. Those of you that took part last time with v9.0.4 will no doubt be pleased to hear we will be using Get Satisfaction once again.
EPOS
EPOS v3.1 is still in development. The release resolves about 18 minor issues that have been reported from users as well as including a new import feature. The new import enables you to quickly enter products into EPOS via CSV. We hope to have this available as a private beta in the coming weeks.
Actinic Conference
As Simon has already mentioned we are planning an Actinic user conference in October. Seats are obviously limited and we are seeing high levels of demand, so if you want to come act quickly!
Support
- 74% rated Actinic support 7/10 or higher in latest survey
- June was busiest month in 1.5 years due to 9.0.4 release and Express offer but still maintained high level of service
- New recruit joined the telephone support team in June - currently still in training but will soon be an extra head in the team to provide support
I hope you have found this update useful, I would encourage you to feedback your thoughts on the supporting thread.
