thats correct - if peeps want to pay with cc there is a link to the left, if they want to pay by pp acct they log in on the right. thats just the way it is.... well maybe i should say thats how my own acct works with paypal website payments and paypal business acct.

That's how PP standard works - it doesn't take you straight in asking for cc details.
In fact even if you select to use a credit card and PP recognises your email address as having a PP account it will channel you into paying with that instead.Comment

Nope, you're right. I've just checked my current site and that's how it works there too.
I'd convinced myself it went to the other screen, but it doesn't
