I don't think OWG is saying that the capilatization affects Googles ranking policy, it simply enhances what people see, thus encouraging them to click through

Mike Google does not always display the meta description content, not sure where you got that from? Google will only ever display the meta description content if the content of it is deemed more relevant thatn the on page stuff. But I am sure you knew that
By the way jo this has changed, and G is no longer showing the capitalised sentence in the page it cached yesterday.Old Bald & Stupid, but more than compensated for by being born Welsh.
