    Search visitors spread.

I'm a bit intrigued as to why about 90% of our visitors arriving via searches do so via Google, the others, msn, Yahoo, etc make up the remaining 10%. Is this normal? Does this mean we are excellent with Google but not with the rest, or is it a sign that Google is most used nowadays?

I'm always looking for other opinions on our 'site, and I try hard to make it searchy friendly.

The Google search facility is also used by a lot of other websites as their search facility on their own site and the web which will add to the results. Google has been top engine for some years but others have recently taken a share of the pie - I guess it also depends on your target audience and the product you are selling as different consumer groups may be more tempted towards a specific search engine.

I believe Google is particularly strong in the UK, but 90% does sound like you could do better from the others. You could always try some of your main search terms in the different engines and see how they compare.

My own results for the last two months are:

      Google: 77%
      Yahoo: 10%
      MSN: 8%
      AOL Netfind: 4%
Alta Vista, Mamma, Ask Jeeves, Lycos, IWON: 1%
