Another vote for clook.net from me. I purchased a re-seller account but only use it to host my own sites using a variety of software. Their support is excellent - teach yourself most things guides - WHM, cPanel, awstats, webalizer, error logs, etc - security alerts, pre-notification of planned maintenance, etc, and knowledgeable people which all make up for the lack of a phone number. The company is growing and have some nice testimonials - read their pre-sales questions and look at their user comments.

I'd recommend www.easily.co.uk. My site (www.jacksonsnurseries.co.uk) was hosted with this company successfully for 2 years without any problems. I've since changed to a BT business package (so the business & home telephone systems etc are all controlled by the same company) but would still definitely recommend the Easily company.

although a lot of negative comments in the past, I have used Fasthosts for the last three years for three sites with no real problems (two Envisage & 1 Linex)

hosting dilema

i was all over the place desperate for a new host and eventualy found clook, no phone support but these guys respond at 3am to emails fantastic, dedicated server off them no speed isshues and a 40% increase in sales. don't worry about an address just google clook and you won't find anyone slagging them off. I researched for days to find a hosting company and clook have so far met all expectations

FWIW... We're still very happy using Pinbrook on our site(s).

After the recent Data Centre change prior to Xmas, the new servers are definately faster, and we're so happy we're about to commit to an upgrade to Dedicated Servers sometime next week with them.

Obviously Jo's experience and expertise are a big part of this.

I have now found myself in a similar position and almost being forced to leave my current host. Is everyone who were with/ moving to Clook almost one year ago still happy? There value reseller package looks very good value has the up time and speed been consistently good.

We have been with Clook for well over a year with a dedicated server package. I can say that in that time our sites have never been off line or have we experienced any disruption of any services.

Their support is the best I have ever seen from any hosting company and their tech guys will go out of their way to help whatever the question. They recently helped us restore an SQL database that was not even hosted with them. All emails for support are answered in under 10 minutes regardless of the time they are sent.

We have moved all of our domains to Clook and have also now moved 30 of our clients over to them. They also know Actinic and how to support it.

Hi,
Has anyone had any experience with End Design? I spoke to them earlier and they reckon their speed and reliability is excellent.

I have a reseller package with Clook, running several Actinic sites.
Never, ever had a problem and their support really is second-to-none.
Longest wait in 18 months for a support ticket to be answered is 4 minutes
I feel that is more important to get a reliable hosting company with good support, rather than choosing a host with a track record hosting Actinic. From experience, Actinic doesn't really have any more hosting idiosyncrasies than any other package (many less than other db based e-commerce packages)

after going with Clook only a month ago i have been very impressed with the quality of the service. The download speeds are faster and the scripts execute faster. This has led to a 10% uplift in sales since I changed hosts. It just isn't worth going with a very cheap host.

I have also had major problems finding reasonably priced fast UK hosting, all seem to have crap / non existent support. 1AND1 and Webfusion to name just two, both very slow compared to my American dedicated server.

However I recently purchased the £23 pcm starter reseller package from

and am very happy with support / server speed and ease with which to setup my actininc shop.

They answered support tickets within 60 mins on a weekend, and they also have a great forum.

For site uptime reasons I've always wanted the .com and the .co.uk versions of my site on two totally different servers, I have now acheived that.

I host all my Actinic sites with WebFusion and have never had a problem. They have recently gone through a major move and upgrade which did cause some downtime but they kept me informed.
