Thanks to you all for your helpful comments -
I'm going to try and re-shoot with additional lighting and a more fluid background, would help if the sun came out too!
Will also look into photo packages, Jont, the picture you did with Photoshop looks great, and 5 minutes a go is not too bad.
All my products I put together myself so can't get the photo's anywhere else.

I'm sure I'll be back with many more questions as I'm new to all this !

As Jont says, natural light is better.
If you an use a cube or similar outside the light will be diffused and stop hard shadows.
Don't forget that at the end of the day, good photos depend on a good lens, digital cameras come cheap but most have rubbish lenses, good lenses are very expensive (£400 up)!!
