I've got a problem whenever click on my IE icon it doesn't take me to www.google.co.uk as it normally does it defaults to:

I have a horrid feeling this is a virus - currently running a complete scan - just finished running adaware and that didn't find anything except a few bits of junk.

I can go into Internet Options and www.google.co.uk is set as my default.

I can get to the Internet if I type into word www.google.co.uk and click on the link - but can't from the IE icon.

Does anyone have any ideas on how I can get rid of this.

    Yours in desperation

It sounds like your browser homepage has been hijacked. I presume when you set your homepage again to google that after rebooting or restarting your browser it reverts back to syserrors. syserrors is a spam site - they're just trying to persuade you to buy their antispyware product.

      Take a look at Merijin.org

It can get a bit technical but download and run 'Hijackthis' - this will tell you a lot about your IE and PC setup.

There's a number of forums around on how to interpret the output from hijackthis - and you can post some of your results there and get some expert advice.

I've cleaned some other PCs before with similar problems with the help of hijackthis. For future you can install Spybot and then set it to block IE setup changes.

Be careful about deleting stuff that you're not sure about mind!!!

Also worth checking out SpyBot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/ which can pick up stuff missed by Adaware and is also free
