    Totally off topic question.

Sorry if this is totally off topic but I really do not know where else to ask and everyone seems to be really friendly here.

After a disasterous two years I am disposing of my Bricks and Mortar shop. I am currently trying to get a website up and running using Actinic and Ebay.

    My off topic question is:

When shops close and they blank out the windows, does anyone know what they use. It is usually a white substance they smear on the window.
    Any ideas.

    Many thanks

    Peter

White water-based emulsion slightly diluted is as good as anything

      Try these....

Don't forget to leave nice big ads in the windows with your website address.

Peter - note the above URL's are for white-washing walls using lime which is a very unpleasant substance and used with care if you go down that route

Why not put up a big poster giving details of your we site and why you are changing from shop to web

Most computer aided design companies have large hp printers that can do the job very cheaply if you just have text on a roll of A0 paper

Look in your yellow pages for CAD companies

Thank you for the advice Jont.

I was thinking more along the lines of Emulsion anyway as it is easier and more user friendly.

I do appreciate all the suggestions and support that the members of this community give. Makes you feel that there is still alot of good in the world even when everything seems against you.

              Regards,

              Peter.

PS. Thank you as well Chris, thats worth looking at.

I have seen someone use Windowlene (I think thats how is spelt)

You just rub it on and let it dry - that way the next owner justs cleans it with a dry cloth and gets clean windows at the same time...
                Thanks

You could also use that stuff that you put on greenhouses to stop them getting too hot, so you would have a hidden but really cool empty shop as well.

Please note that I went the extra mile here to give an Actinic example :-)

                    Thanks Guys,

Have gone with the diluted emulsion. Hope it comes off but that won't be my problem.

I hope people like the Opticians that are moving to the premises, they will fit in with the other 3 or 4 and the upteen estate agents.

Isn't it a shame how these towns are all becoming the same? no real choice, less and less quality. No wonder internet shopping is taking off.

Many thanks to all of you and special thanks to Jan who went that extra mile

                    Peter
