Why Christmas falls on 12 December

We had a really busy Sat/Sun/Mon/Tues - Ho Ho Ho!

But i guess the rush is easing now as not much over night comapred to the last few days.

NB Jonty as per Sarah Kenedy's instruction - sprouts need to be on in April to be ready for christmas so you've got no chance

We had a cyber Tuesday! It's quite normal in our trade for December to be our quietest month (and boy do we need it, we're all knackered having gone through our megga busy time already).

However this year it's been a very gradual slow down rather than a drop, and I guess that's down to a combination of reasons such as now being well established and recognised, repeat business, recommends etc. Had a bit of a manic surge over the weekend and more on Tuesday with daily takings well into the usual four figures again.

A word of warning - if you're in the Cambridgeshire area on Christmas day, prepare for "power surges" at around 3 a.m when dearest mother stokes up the furnace to 2000 degrees for the turkey! I thought the days when people got up in the middle of the night to start Christmas dinner was a thing of the past and solid fuel stoves - she remains unconvinced and still thinks she'll kill everyone if she doesn't cook the poor fowl for 12 hours! But if you need to know how to pressure cook sprouts to the point of collapse, she's your gal - bless!

Still, at the least the wine will be good cos we're bringing that (and the toothpicks!).

One has to retain one's sense of humour at this time of year (much easier with aforementioned wine). Regards - Helen

Arf, arf, arf Jont! If dearest mother was supplying the wine then yes, it would be the height of sophisication (served chilled to the point of icing up solid of course - in posh "cut glass" crystal from megga granny that only comes out once a year with lovely attic dust and skins of unlovelies).

Now that's when the drugs come in............

I digress! The message is, don't come to our family gaffe for Chrimbo unless you like dry turkey, Colman's packet mix bread sauce (with added chunks of bread - well it will do for another day, it's been frozen for 6 months so it's fresh), 3 kilos of apple sauce (don't you know the fruit trees have done really well this year, so it's not cranberries, EAT IT), crap wine (apart from the Frozen Nun, obviously).
