    Handling Multiple Sites / Email

Having just purchased 3 new domains to target slightly different markets. I was wondering how other Actinicers managed the email over different sites to send and reply under the same domain name?

We run SBS server to route the email over the internal network which is picked up in Outlook.

Any ideas about the best way to handle this most appreciated.

We are using POP mail in Outlook. I don't if this is the best method - but this what we do...
We use catch-all forwarding on all domains to one main account to receive, and separate domain accounts to send. Just got to remember to select the right account before sending!

Thanks Duncan - it was the changing the sender account that was my main concern - OK when quiet but a nightmare to remember when busy.

Collecting the emails is not an issue as I can just set up a new connection for each of the new domains and collect and distribute. Will probably have to look at setting up new user mail box accounts and distribute the mail into them.

      Thanks

We have seperate e-mail address' for each site which are downloaded into incredimail. When we receive an e-mail and reply it automatically sends the e-mail from the address that recieved the e-mail. If we are sending the first e-mail then we will send it from within Actinic or from our main address.

We operate six sites but clearly tell them all that they are part of Internet Workwear Ltd which is also the main site

Therefore they see no problem in emails coming from either the domain name or IWLtd

Thanks Chris - funnily enough I cited your site to the MD as an example of having 1 main site and having more focussed sites as a spin off

I have hopefully resolved using SBS Server by setting up a new user and pop connection and having that users mail box picked up by myself- it will mean more clutter in Outlook but will get a reply from the correct domain (hopefully - not tested yet as the site has not been setup with the host yet)

Just to update in case of use to others.

Under SBS 2003 set up a new pop connection to the new domain and distribute that into the user mailbox. Ensure the user has an smtp connection from the new domain and set the default SMTP connector to allow annonymous connections.

On the client PC in Outlook a new pop3 account was created using a null incoming server and the name of the SBS server in outgoing SMTP field. Username and password left null. The new pop3 was set up as a group to send but not receive.

When creating a new email an option appears to send via SBS or pop3 account.
