Odd Referring URL

Once again I've been checking my stats......keep getting referrals from:

http://www.ismy.net/generator.html

Anyone understand what's going on?

It's turning into a bit of a bad week for me

Hi Bun,
I've been getting a lot of this recently - recently had nearly 2000 from one site overnight! Referrals that don't actually get any pages?

Apparently it's a scam to improve rankings for the referring site (and not very effective for them either).

To fix: put an .htaccess file in the root folder with the following:

SecFilterSelective HTTP_Referer|ARGS "ismy\.net"

This fixed things for me immediately on the several occasions I've used it.

Should keep working for that site - but keep your eyes open.
I've a feeling that we're both now on a list somewhere and will probably have a few more sites try the same thing.

This is a door way page generator. It works by asking questions about your website and then getting content from related sites, this it uses to create a keyword rich page which you add to your site.

If you are getting lots of visits then it may indicate that a competitor is doing some SEO - you could use it to see if you can find out who they are.

However, I may not fully understand, but I don't see how they would benefit from reffering to the site of mine that's being hit. The site's a local rural area site - the referrers sites represent an altogether different interest group! We do have a lot of high Google rankings.
