Depends what you're looking for - I've used the Microsoft Slideshow Power Toy in an iframe to do something like this:

there are loads of open source gallery packages out there, you just need to choose one that will run on the OS of your server ie windows or unix.
Actinic doesn't ener into the equation as both packages with sit side by side on the server
