        I am running both Actinic and Quickbooks in MU mode. I have found the network speed that you need depends upon both file sizes that you are sharing and the program in use.

        Actinic is not too bad on 100 Mbps, but if you have a lot of completed orders in your history it will be slow at start up and during certain operations.

        Quickbooks was almost unuseable on 100 Mbs, especially when the stock item file was being accessed (we have over 13k stock items). Gigabit ethernet transformed it (as did archiving some of transaction history).

        In my opinion, Gigabit ethernet switches and NICs are so cheap now that if there is half a chance that you might need them then you should get them.
