More and more websites are personalising their URL with the web address bar, with a small logo/image but how is this done - any ideas?

From what I remember from my time using IE, the favicon should show up in your favourites list if there's a favicon for that URL. I seem to remember it was a bit temparemental though.
I've always found it a real pain to find a decent *.ico creator. Does anyone know of a good, free piece of software that'll do this?

Hi Rob - if you use PhotoShop there is a plugin that will convert see http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tuto...r/favicon.html
The above link to favicon.com also mentions an online creator but have no personal experience using it - may be worth checking out

Thanks Jo. I tried it a while ago, but it was a Java applet, so it wasn't much use unfortunately.Originally posted by pinbrookthe site quoted by Jont has a free online editor
Thanks Jonty. That looks to be really useful. I'll have to dig out my copy of PS when I get home and give it a go.Originally posted by jontHi Rob - if you use PhotoShop there is a plugin that will convert see http://www.photoshopsupport.com/tuto...r/favicon.html
