    Smtp

    We use several sites with Actinic V4 (4.1.1.0.0.4 CBXA).

    The configuration needs to get a server SMTP for working.

    Since a certain time, most providers of hosting block the access to their SMTP server and request to use that function by using SENDMAIL.

    Could-you please inform if you have a correction to be made in oreder to use SENDMAIL instead of SMTP directly.

    Thanks for helping!

    Best regards,

        Maybe you could take the v5 solution and patch it into the v4 scripts

            Hi Jo,

            I see with the hosting provider if its Perl supports :

            Mail::Mailer module

            As requested by Norman www.drillpine.biz

              Hi Henri,

              There are still lots of hosts you who will allow you to send email via the smtp server. If your current hosts are telling you something different then I would suggest you move to another host. It's got to be simpler than trying to change the perl scripts.

              One thing I can suggest is that you find a host that will let you use 'localhost' as the name of the smtp server without requiring authentication. I seem to remember that V4 doesn't have smtp authentication, which may be the problem with your current host.

              1and1 are a good example of such a host but there are lots of others around.

              Mike
