    Broken images and no css

    Hi all

I am getting people say that when they visit my home page for the first time all the images are broken and the style sheet is not there. do any of you see this?

I just see the normal home page.

any ideas what might be causing this?

    cheers

its seems fine to me in FF and IE6

can you ask the people who have difficulties which brower they use?

BTW the alignment is slightly out on the top left search box in FF

I noticed it and use ie 6 on xp operating system.

Knew about ff search box but because we wanted background image for majority of users (ie) thought it was a decent enough compromise (thanks anyway)

Bangers - bit of a long shot, but the reference to the style sheet is right at the end of the HEAD section, just before the </head> tag - have you tried moving it nearer the start of the HEAD section where most would be. It shouldn't make a difference, but the browser wouldn't have to wade through all that lovely Java stuff (technical term ) before it gets there - it's just possible that some of the code is stalling a browser in certain configurations.

It might help but I doubt it because not only is it not loading the style sheet but all images are broken as well which has nothing to do with the css or head tag

          cheers

OK - even longer shot - is it possible that you are loading a copy of the page which is in a different location, hence the lack of style sheet & images???

Perhaps try an absolute reference on the CSS or one of the images as a test......

Fine in IE, FF, NS and Opera at this end.

For the images, could it be that some of your viewers have ad blocking set to high (or similar) on their internal firewall.

If anyone has zone alarm, view the site with the ad block and security set to MAX you will see what I mean.

As for the style sheet, does it live in the site 1 folder? Just a thought but maybe make the style sheet link relative as this can sometimes act erratic (many posts out here for that css baby )

Could it be as simple as a page size thing. there are lots of images on the page and when I viewed it on a slow connection it did look like there images were missing and the links were plain text which again suggests that the css file is taking time to load. It would be worth checking the connection speed of the people having problems.
