    Do I hav a virus

I've been getting a strange problem on my PC's which AVG can't pick up. If I search from Yahoo or Google and click on any links I usually get taken to some random ad farm page with a load of links. This happens regardless of what I search for.

Anyone else had this problem. I've scanned with fully updated AVG and it finds nothing. Any advice?

This is a very common thing. Your search page has been hijacked and can be either easy or hard to fix. Have a good dig around on the net and you will come across Hijackthis (some software to help with the problem). Interpretation of the results of Hijackthis is not always easy and I would recommend you run the software and then post your results in a relevant forum and ask for assitance (there's lots of them - such as http://forums.spybot.info).

Thanks guys, downloading spybot now. Will check out the other one too and see if I can sort it.

Sorted, ta. No spy or anitivirus software would find it but Hijackthis identified a nasty little dmjdh.exe file in the system32 folder which was causing the problem. Messing with DNS settings to direct the browser to false search sites. Nice. No idea how I picked it up as I only really browse about 10 sites!

On another note, I was watching CLick on BBC the other day and the guy recommended running XP as a Limited User. Does anyone do this as I've always run in Admin but I suppose it leaves you open to attack. I just figured it would be annoying not having the admin rights all the time.
