    > I also dont like the booking system for city-link
We print out all of our labels with a single click, we use our One Stop Order Processing software to link to the Clan loader program. Makes life very easy, and hearing the labels print is a very satisifying sound as well :-) If you have One Stop Order Processing and didn't know about this you just need to import the Citylink view into the software - this used to be in the advanced version only but will be in the basic one in the next few days.

I'm still having nightmares about having my posts about hamsters removed.

I thought that as well, but was recently told that citylink only cover £10 per kilo... Can anyone confirm either way?

That is correct - £10 per kilo to a maximum of £15k or the net (cost) value of the goods whichever is less. Anything which is worth more than £10 per kilo should be insured seperately by yourself (Goods In Transit cover can be included in your business insurance).

It's rarely worth the bother of claiming though, unless the item is high-value, in which case it should have been seperately covered anyway......

What works well for us with CL is the Double Money Back Guarantee. Every morning a girl's first job is to check the dispatches from two days ago that should have been delivered yesterday. Any that weren't 'carded' are reported by fax and a credit note follows (in due course). The credits obtained in this way more than cover the time it takes to do.

Yes, double money back is fantastic and more than makes up for the odd return or forwarding fee.

Our contract has unlimited insurance built in. Dunno if they have changed it since. Never claimed though. Most of our stuff is £20-30 worth and they very, very rarely lose anything. In fact, I can't remember CL losing anything of ours out of many thousands of packages.

No, they rarely LOSE anything but they do break things.

But in our case we are sending out cartons of 12 or 24, and if one gets damaged it's still not worth a claim. The problem comes when they refuse to deliver to the Consignee because of damage - they assume that the whole lot is broken - we want the parcel delivered so that the C'ee can tell us how many are damaged. Then we just replace or credit the odds.

It's not worth insurance, and is built in to the price. And as Steve says, the DMB claims go a long way to covering it. You have to follow the rules though (claim within five days - waiting for the invoice is too late).

The biggest pain is 'return to sender after five days if undelivered' because then they charge for the return - & it wasn't necessarily our fault that the C'ee wasn't able to receive what they had ordered. Careful wording on our website has gone a long way to alleviate this.
