    actinic enterprise edition sql

    Hi all,

I'm trying to do a bit of planning ahead at the moment. I have heard about the developement of actinic enterprise edition and hopefully it will provide the added fuctionality to keep us on actinic.

A few questions for those in the know (and for those who know about MS SQL in general):

    1. whats the current eta on actinic enterprise?

    2. what version of sql server would I need to buy? I'm guessing I can't get away with the free express version and its going to be something like sql 2005 standard for ££££s? Also should i just run that on XP pro or is it worth using server 2003 or something?

    3. if actinic enterprise uses a ms sql database, can I develop an additional program to use it at the same time? I want to use the actinic stock control, but enhance it with another program to automatically mark up new orders that have enough stock to ship, sort out purchase orders and then mark those into stock when they arrive in.

    4. what is actinic enterprise itself going to cost roughly?

    5. can we beta test a version? If so when?

I have already started working in the actinic v8 access database to add using VBA the extra stock control functionality that we require, however I don't want to go the whole hog, only to have to upgrade to actinic enterprise and start again with an ms sql database.

If anyone can answer any of those it would be greatly appreciated, we are growing really quickly at the moment and its very hard to try and keep ahead of ourselves!

    Cheers

    Dave

ETA from discussions from last week was January, maybe and most probaly feb (knowing how these things drag on).

MS SQL on Windows server and dont think the express will do it

As its SQL, then write your own queries and so long as you have the access rights and know where to post in which table etc etc, then you can do pretty much anything you want.

Costs - you would need to speak with sales on that one, but would say to look at Business MU price and add another 50 to 100%, but that is a guestimate.
