isn't really clear what the minimum charge (£5) applies to.
From 2nd April 2007, we will be introducing a minimum order value of £5 on all orders we receive. This means that from this date, if you send us an order at a value of say £4.10, it will be automatically topped-up to £5.
Later in the year, we will be increasing the minimum order value for posting cheques to £20. At the same time we will also be introducing a £1 handling fee for every posting cheque of any amount. The £20 minimum order value and £1 handling fee will not apply to any orders you place electronically.
Did not realise you could buy anything from the RoYal Mail for under a fiver except stamps, and I guess by next year they may be getting close to this price
We are using EPRO - (well Steve is not me!) he says it's quick & easy to use once your get used to it - but not the most intuitive setup he's ever seen, but it is due to be replaced later in the year with a simpler system - or so he's been told. Had about 30 min telephone training session to begin with.
Upside - reduces the amount of paperwork - always a good thing to me.
We've been using EPRO since it first launched - very quick and easy once you get used to it.
The only service not set up is the standard parcel service which we need for high weight/lower value orders or high value orders where time is not of the essence, but we need more than £32 cover. You still have to go to the post office for this, which is NOT going to happen when you're getting a daily collection (to avoid going to the post office!).
To this end we also use Parcel Force and find we're using it more and more, and overall the savings are proving very worthwhile.
Our local RM office got wind of this, and phoned to "do a deal" on parcels since they could see a drop in our output through them.
When we explained the above and that EPRO was not set up for this feature, they said "What's EPRO?"
