php login to update site news

I'm currently building a site for a mate's band. He wants to be able to log in to the site fill in and online form to update the news as and when things happen but I am struggling to do so.

I was wondering if there was anyone around these parts who could help me out?

Two main points:

MySpace seems to be in the in place for bands to have their own sites nowadays, from what i hear this is where people tend to look for bands and will get far more exposure that a separate website. MySpace provide you with a CMS solution so that you can design and add content as you go.

CMS solutions are pretty cheap nowadays, have a look into these as they will remove most of the hard work for you and give him what he wants very quickly. Most even do a 30 day trial.

They have a myspace site but he wants his own for downloadable content and to sell merch etc. Seeing as everyone has a myspace site its hard to sift through the crap, he feels having his own site will benifit him more in the long run.


From my point of view as well being in a fairly successful band we have both myspace and seperate site both get their fair share of views we sell off the main website, have a message board, downloads, gig listings etc and the myspace site is purely for snippits of music and the odd news shot.

Plus to the suits of the industry it looks more proffessional to have your own site and not just the myspace.

Better to buy the proper domains (.com, .co.uk, etc) for the band "now" though, even if you direct them to the myspace addy.

Unless you want to pay a ransom to buy them when they become half famous.

Or someone thats been on x-factor, when you could just simply ignore the whole thing. Joking, I rate that Leonna bird.
