Reporting credit card fraud

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone does anything about reporting fraudulent orders when you recieve them.

We probably get 5-10 a week that are for 10 of something or lots of really expensive items with a UK or US billing address and an african or far eastern shipping address.

We got caught out with a large order to sweden a few years ago and since then we have been able to sniff out all the dodgey ones, but I was wondering if there was anywhere you could report the details to the card companies etc to A. let the owner know the card details have been stolen and B. make life that little bit harder for those responsible.

I'd rather be doing my bit to clamp down on it rather than just covering our own backs.

I tried to report one last week and they could not care, the answer i got was if you think its fraud then decline the order and refund the money. Even though i wanted to know if i could check them out and just verify that the order was OK

As luck would have it the 3rd man checks performed by Protx also showed to be suspect and it turned out it was a stolen credit card. I never sent the goods and am waiting for the bank to claim the money back.

What really annoys me more is the big profits the banks have just declared, it does not cost them so they dont care its the retailer and card holder that take the hit.

I think they have a cheek charging £10 a month for a service that should be free or pay per use. This is what all the banks should be investing in and paying for.
