    lwww. mysite. com

Strange thing I have just spotted that my website is appearing twice on google and msn

The regular version ie www. legends-online dot com appears and so does lwww.legends-online dot com (Lower case L at the beginning of the www)

I don't know where this lwww is coming from but it is throwimg up duplicate results on MSN and is a bit worrying as google and other might see it as duplicate content.

Can anyone explain what is going on here and how I have come to get two version of the same site?

    Any ideas would be welcome

    Cheers

Just a precaution - have you put a dummy order through the lwww version to see if it appears on your back end orders system? DON'T use valid credit card or Paypal details etc. I would talk to Boxhedge ASAP as well.

          firstly Mark

the lwww version of the site works up to the point of the basket where it transfers to the www version.

          Jo

Put harry potter wands into msn and see the 2nd & 3rd result to see what I mean

or just put lwww.legends-onlinedotcom into the browser bar to see what I am seeing.

          Cheers

Ive seen this a couple of times before and what it looks like is happening is that you have two copies of your site indexed and as you say you are being hit by a duplicate content penalty by the looks of it.

I would look hard at your database and how the removal of the acatalog was done as I have seen this through up errors. Check your server and see what is lurking about in there.

I also remember a problem you had with indexing/hosting last year - could this be related as I cannot recall exactly what the problem was.

Hi Malcolm you sort of hit the nail on the head

So I found the problem which happened at the beginning of march - i changed hosts and messing with the network settings, in the server details I somehow managed to get the catalogue url as http://lwww.legends-etc etc.
I have now corrected it and refreshed the site but the lwww version of the site is still there.

Any ideas how I get rid of the duplicate site?

                Cheers

You are not alone with this prefix, maybe it is a problem live search are currently experiencing or have recently experienced.
