70s? Pah that photo is definitely an 80s one, taken circa 1982-3 I would think.

And I'm sure Jo is younger than me.

Being young *and* female certainly helped me be top vendor every day (dads were sent out to buy on a Sunday and somehow when they dithered between flavours they ended up getting a twin cone with both - I held no prisoners, but everyone was pushed for flakes), and I was fast at dishing it up - secret is keep the tubs rotated near the top of the freezer so they stay sufficiently soft to scoop easily and with as much air inside the ball as possible, the ice cream is quickest to scoop and goes a lot further. Still do the same when T has friends for tea! Nowadays there's not the market for it, we used to sell loads of blocks and tubs of ice cream because few people had freezers, and no-one had the multitude of flavours we had on the vans in their freezer. I have to confess I still love ice cream and right now have some Waitrose butterscotch in a bowl. Yum!

You should live near us Tracey, there's a rather nice young one sometimes on the estate up the lane.

Know your facts, know your figures, be realistic and know the competitors.

Don't teach them to suck eggs, blind them with technical details or pretend you will be selling 100 million units a week in a months time.

          haha...I was mis-interpretted!!
I meant...all our ice cream sellers are in THEIR 70s (as in locally...our vendors are 70-something men!!)

Wasn't implying that anyone HERE was selling ice cream in the 1970s

          LOL

I thought you were implying Miranda and i were in our 70's. Although that would have put Miranda giving birth in her 60's - how old is the UK's oldest mother? ie how old was the oldest woman to give birth - just in case more misunderstandings arise.

And I'm sure Jo is younger than me.
            I doubt it

Thats a brilliant picture, I love retro stuff like that. I actually reckon you could make that into a really good pc wallpaper by adding a logo or punchline of some sort...
