I am currently redesigning one of my sites and am having to change a lot of page names.

I have for the first time created a .htaccess file.

Before I go live with the new site and upload the file could someone have a look at the file and just confirm that I have done it correctly?

Yes, those redirects will work in the root of the server.

Don't forget to rename the file when you load it onto the server, to remove the .txt
